LettLopi is a fantastic yarn. And MI Yarn has a very nice price on it. I am using one of the free patterns on the Icelandic Store website for this yarn and have also zeroed in on another one that I intend to buy yarn for. I will definitely be buying the yarn from MI Yarn!

This was my second order of the loppi yarn from Michigan Fine Arts - the first time I was making the Weatherman Sweater for myself, and this time I'm making an Icelandic sweater for my 4 year old. I couldn't be happier with the price, the delivery and with the yarn itself! The first time around I also ordered some DPNS and they were wonderful quality.

Very fast shipping is always pleasing. Now, the yarn!! When i first rested my eyes upon it i thought it such an unusual color for Lopi and was immediately drawn to it. I was looking for the perfect project to use this yarn and was thinking a simple Felix, but then saw the Sheep Camp Sweater and had matching scraps that matched perfectly with this colorway -Galaxy. I love that it is black, but has random flecks of blues, pinks, purples and yellow. Lopi is rustic and pure from the icelandic sheep. I have always loved it, i'm a true fan! Many do not like the itch factor. With proper tshirts, or long underwear I've had no problem.

At first I really worried this yarn would be too scratchy, but after blocking it blooms and softens up considerably. It is dense and very, very warm, especially when knitted in colorwork.

Regarding the yarn:
I purchased Lettlopi for the Anemone Sweater as recommended in the pattern. Working with Lettlopi has been a challenge. The yarn has a scratchy texture which makes my normal tensioning around the pinky finger impossible. While doing colorwork, the strands catch on everything and have to be wrangled in separate baskets. The texture actually scratched up the sides of my fingers while I knitted.
However! When I blocked the yarn, it became soft and pliable. It’s still a rustic yarn, but it is so much nicer after being blocked. It bloomed and all the stitches evened out. The yarn is very warm, probably the warmest yarn I’ve ever used! I would recommend it for projects that won’t bother you if they’re a little scratchy.
